April 2008 Worksheets

Calculating Your Net Worth (download worksheet)

This document provides you with a balance sheet template for calculating your net worth. Simply insert the appropriate amounts for your own situation to replace the zeroes you see. Click here to download.

Keep these tips in mind:
1.         Assets are valued at what they are worth on the day you complete the form.

2.         Liabilities (your debts) are the amounts you would need to pay today to completely pay off the debt. If you do not know that amount you should contact your lender.

3.         You may have categories of assets or debts that are not on the form. If so, you can simply change the heading for one or more of the categories that does not apply to you.

4.         Do not insert amounts for the red colored categories. These will be calculated for you.

Creating Your Cash-flow Statement and Preparing a Budget (download worksheet)

This document provides you with a cash-flow template for calculating your cash-flow for one month. Using the template, you can also complete a budget for the next month. Simply insert the appropriate amounts for your own situation to replace the zeroes you see. Click here to download the worksheet.

 Keep these tips in mind:

1.         Amounts in the “Actual Month 1” column should be based on records you have kept for a recent month.

2.         Amounts in the “Budget Month 2” column should be based on how you wish to increase your income or decrease your spending to meet your savings goals.

3.         It may take several months of trial and error with your new budget to arrive at a plan that works for you. Do not be discouraged. Any progress is worthwhile.

4.         Do not insert amounts for the red colored categories. These will be calculated for you.
